Our Story & Mission
OPL Helpline was founded with a singular vision: to create a treatment center in Lorain, Ohio, where every person battling addiction is treated with dignity, compassion, and clinical excellence.
We recognized that recovery is not one-size-fits-all. Many treatment facilities focus on protocols rather than people. OPL Helpline was built to be different — a place where personalized attention is not a luxury, but the standard of care. Our facility on Oberlin Avenue provides a calming, residential-style environment that promotes healing from the inside out.
Over the years, our treatment center has helped hundreds of individuals and families navigate the complex path from addiction to lasting recovery. We continue to grow, innovate, and refine our programs based on the latest research in addiction medicine and behavioral health.

Treatment Philosophy
Addiction is a complex medical condition influenced by genetics, environment, trauma, and mental health. At OPL Helpline, we reject the idea that willpower alone can overcome substance use disorders. Instead, we employ proven therapeutic methods that rewire thought patterns, heal trauma, and build sustainable coping skills.
Our integrated model treats the whole person — from medically managed detox through aftercare support — ensuring continuity of care at every stage of recovery.

Recovery Stories
Every recovery journey is unique. These stories from OPL Helpline alumni reflect the hope, courage, and transformation that our Lorain treatment center helps make possible.
When I arrived at OPL Helpline, I was broken and terrified. The residential program gave me structure, and the counselors treated me like family. The yoga studio became my sanctuary, and the meditation garden helped me find peace I never knew existed. Six months later, I have my life back — my children, my job, my self-respect. This facility in Lorain saved my life.
— Sarah M.
Residential Treatment Program
The medical detox team at OPL Helpline made what I thought would be unbearable feel manageable. The nurses checked on me every hour, and the doctor adjusted my medication until I was comfortable. I transitioned right into residential treatment feeling safe and hopeful. The food was incredible, and the staff genuinely cared about every patient.
— James T.
Detox & Residential Program
The IOP program at OPL Helpline let me keep working while getting real, meaningful treatment. Group therapy sessions were powerful — hearing others' stories made me feel less alone. My therapist helped me understand the connection between my anxiety and my drinking. I drive to the Lorain facility three times a week and it has changed my life.
— Rebecca L.
Intensive Outpatient Program
I came to OPL Helpline struggling with both depression and opioid addiction. The dual diagnosis program was exactly what I needed — for the first time, both conditions were treated together instead of separately. The psychiatrist and my therapist worked as a team, and I finally understood why previous attempts at sobriety had failed. I am eighteen months clean and mentally healthier than I have ever been.
— Marcus W.
Dual Diagnosis Program
As a mother, watching my son struggle with addiction was the hardest thing I have ever faced. OPL Helpline's family therapy program helped us heal together. The counselors taught us how to communicate without blame and how to support without enabling. My son completed the residential program, and our relationship is stronger than it has been in years.
