Medical Detoxification at OPL Helpline
Medical detox typically lasts 3–7 days, depending on the substance and individual factors. At OPL Helpline in Lorain, Ohio, our 24/7 medical team monitors your progress and adjusts treatment to keep you safe and comfortable throughout the withdrawal process.
What Is Medical Detox?
Medical detoxification is the first step in addiction treatment. It involves safely managing withdrawal symptoms under medical supervision. Attempting to detox without professional help can be dangerous and even life-threatening for certain substances.

Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)
PHP at OPL Helpline provides near-residential intensity while allowing patients to return home each evening. Patients attend programming at our Lorain facility five days per week, receiving individual therapy, group sessions, psychiatric consultations, and holistic activities.
PHP is ideal for patients stepping down from residential treatment or those who need more support than IOP can provide.
Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)
OPL Helpline's IOP is designed for individuals who need structured treatment but also need to maintain their daily responsibilities. Sessions occur three to four days per week at our center, focusing on relapse prevention, coping skills, and group support.
IOP typically lasts 8–12 weeks and provides a strong foundation for sustained recovery while you continue working or caring for family.
Step-Down Care
Many patients at OPL Helpline follow a structured step-down path:
- Residential treatment → PHP for continued intensive support
- PHP → IOP as patients gain confidence and stability
- IOP → Standard outpatient for ongoing maintenance
- All levels → Alumni aftercare program for lifelong support
Dual Diagnosis Treatment at OPL Helpline
Dual diagnosis treatment addresses both addiction and co-occurring mental health conditions simultaneously. At OPL Helpline in Lorain, Ohio, our integrated approach ensures that both conditions receive expert clinical attention — because treating one without the other often leads to relapse.
What Is Dual Diagnosis?
Dual diagnosis (also called co-occurring disorders) refers to the presence of both a substance use disorder and a mental health condition. Research shows that nearly half of all people with a substance use disorder also have a co-occurring mental health condition.
At OPL Helpline, we understand that addiction and mental health are deeply interconnected. Self-medicating with substances is a common response to untreated depression, anxiety, trauma, or other psychiatric conditions. Our treatment center addresses both conditions with an integrated care model.
Mental Health Conditions We Treat
Our Integrated Approach
- Comprehensive psychiatric evaluation upon admission
- Coordinated care between psychiatrists, therapists, and addiction counselors
- Medication management for mental health symptoms alongside addiction treatment
- Trauma-informed CBT and DBT therapy modalities
- Specialized group therapy for co-occurring conditions
- Family education about the relationship between mental health and addiction
- Aftercare planning that addresses both conditions for long-term stability
